Frank Chamberlin MFIA
Director
Action Words
Frank has been an FIA member for more than 20 years. Over the years, the copywriting business he founded, Action Words, has been engaged by dozens of fundraisers, particularly for writing fundraising letters. Since 2006, Frank has also been offering a one-day writing workshop, ‘Writing skills to make your team more professional’.
This workshop has had amazing success both within our sector and beyond our sector. The testimonials that Frank receives tell the story:
“I wanted to increase the emotive nature of our fundraising letters and keep up-to-date on the latest writing insights. As the name suggests, Copywriting for Fundraisers is specifically for our sector - unlike more generic writing courses - and that really appealed to me. I was able to immediately apply what I learnt to writing our newsletter articles and thank you letters. Completing the course has helped me to become a more effective communicator for my organisation’s cause, engaging stakeholders in a manner that will persuade them to act. If you want to better connect with your supporters, I highly recommend FIA’s Copywriting for Fundraisers course.” Anna Wood, Marketing & Development Director, Crusader Union of Australia.
“The Action Words business writing workshop was totally practical and very worthwhile. It made a real difference for us in both our business writing and our communications with our supporters.” Trish Hardy, Royal Melbourne Hospital.
“We had
a large group of our people attend the session from Action Words and we were
thrilled with the results. Everyone gained something practical and we felt the
time investment was well worthwhile.” Suzana Ristevski, Strategic
Marketing Director, GE Capital.
When he is not copywriting or presenting his plain English course, Frank lectures in the Masters of Marketing at Monash University. In his early career, Frank spent seven years with Du Pont, six years with PWC and four years with Wesley Central Mission. The workshop he is presenting for FIA demonstrates the value of plain English with special focus on fundraising copy.
